Need to speak to Optimum Intake about their dietetic services? We would love to hear from you. Visit the contact page for details and locations.
We help people living with diabetes including Type I Diabetes (mainly found in children), teenagers and adults with insulin resistance, those newly diagnosed with Type II Diabetes or individuals who are wanting to reduce their risk of developing diabetes through food and healthy lifestyles.
If you identify with any of the above diabetes conditions it is important that you have a solid understanding of what diabetes is, how it affects your body, your long term health and how food plays such an important role in all of this. We make it easy for you to understand so you can make informed decisions when it comes to choosing the foods you eat and managing your sugar/medication/insulin levels.
Our individual consultations can be made at any of our locations where you will receive one-on-one individual sessions with an Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD). Tailoring the session to your specific needs we work with you to set a treatment plan that is both realistic and achievable.
(If your GP has competed a Medicare form (otherwise referred to as the Enhanced Primary Care Program or Team Care Arrangement) you may be eligible to receive rebates of up to 5 individual allied health services, please speak with your GP for details.)
Our group package is exclusively available at our Erina Heights Office (p:4365 1468), we have create a unique program that is designed to assist you in reducing your HbA1c, fasting blood glucose, body weight, systolic blood pressure, improve diabetes knowledge and reduce need for diabetes medication. The group is suitable for those with Type II Diabetes or Insulin Resistance and want to learn how to better manage your diabetes, or would like review information learnt from previous education or simply to update your knowledge. Research has shown that participating in regular education sessions can help to take control of your diabetes and make positive changes to your health and lifestyle such as exercise, diet, blood glucose monitoring and compliance with mediations.
(If your GP has completed an Allied Health Group Diabetes Services referral you are entitled to rebates for an individual assessment and 8 hrs of small group education each calendar year, check with your GP to see if you are eligible).
