Optimum Intake Dietitians, believe quality of life is a right and is something that should continue throughout our life span. While we may accept bodily changes are a fact of life, it does not mean we have to accept a lesser quality of life or lesser quality food. We are passionate about helping you to optimise your independence with all daily tasks related to food and eating. Our community based services are conducted in the convenience and comfort of your own home or facility at a time that suits you.

You will receive that extra personalised service where your experienced aged care dietitian will provide in home educations, meal plans based on the food stores in your cupboard, supplement recommendations when regular food intake is not sufficient, meal delivery service options, meal preparation demonstrations or family based recipe modifications and much more to ensure optimal health outcomes.
As Dietitians, we recognise that food is a huge and emotive subject for many people, and in particular, older people. It can bring family and friends together, help us unite and reflect on many different areas of life and experiences. Food is the element that is used to celebrate, reflect culture and traditions and affects our health and quality of life. Like many of us, food is a comfort when times are difficult, and when cooking or eating becomes difficult, many older people can experience frailty or poor health. Dietitians can be utilised for our knowledge and skills to select the necessary strategies, foods or supplement items to improve health and restore independence through appropriate nutrition.
Research has shown that individualised, home based nutrition counseling by an Accredited Practising Dietitian improves functional status, nutrition status, energy intake and protein intake as well as reducing risk of hospital readmission, mortality and reliance on social services. Regular follow up sessions with an Dietitian also doubles the rate of compliance with dietary plans and nutritional supplementation regimes.
