Shannon Cook BN&D APD (Hons)
Shannon joined the Optimum Intake Dietitian team in 2020. Her approach to nutrition is client
centred and holistic, learning from and targeting every individual client’s knowledge and skill level to enhance the health, independence and well-being of each individual client. Shannon is particularly passionate about optimising nutrition in the elderly and those living with a disability. Shannon
believes food plays an important role in enhancing quality of life and is essential for meeting the
physical and functional needs of more vulnerable people. She enjoys providing informative and
engaging consultations and tailoring all advice to the individual to achieve their desired outcomes, with major emphasis placed on enjoying everyday foods. Shannon will work closely with your multi-disciplinary team to empower and support your nutrition journey and advocate for the role of food based nutrition in medical care.
Apart from nutrition for the elderly and those living with a disability, Shannon is also interested in supporting clients with complex chronic health needs such as diabetes management, heart disease, gastro-intestinal health and using a non-diet approach to promote sustainable changes in food choices.
Shannon is an Accredited Practising Dietitian and a member of Dietitians Australia. Graduating from the University of Newcastle with a Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics (Honours), she started her nutrition career with experience in research and population based nutrition and health topics.
Shannon has the skills and knowledge to approach many nutrition related issues and has the support of Optimum Intake Dietitian team’s collective resources, experience and brains trust.
