Individual Consumer Services

Timely, Tailored Nutrition Support for Better Resident Outcomes

At Optimum Intake Dietitians, we deliver responsive, compassionate, and clinically excellent nutrition care for older adults living in residential aged care. We understand the complex needs of this population, and we pride ourselves on quick response times, respectful communication, and a truly person-centred approach.

Our services are aligned with the Strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards, especially Standards 1, 3, 5, and 6, ensuring your residents receive care that is safe, dignified, and effective.

Our Approach

Every resident referred to us receives an individualised nutrition assessment and care plan that addresses their current dietary intake, medical conditions, nutrition goals, preferences, and psychosocial needs. We:

  • Collaborate with care staff, GPs, nurses, and catering teams

  • Assess oral intake, weight trends, hydration, supplements, and dietary concerns

  • Contribute to the Nutrition Care Plan and documentation

  • Provide a comprehensive report with clear, actionable recommendations

  • Reassess and review care to ensure our interventions are working and meaningful

  • Align all care to the resident’s wishes, goals, and dignity

Our Signature Philosophy: Food First – Supplement Where Necessary

We are strong advocates of a food-first approach, helping residents improve nutrition intake through real food and mealtime enjoyment. Where Oral Nutrition Supplements are required, we:

  • Monitor them closely for effectiveness, acceptance, and waste

  • Prevent unnecessary costs by discontinuing ineffective supplement use

  • Recommend only evidence-based dosages that reflect the latest clinical research

Why Refer to Us?

Our Accredited Practising Dietitians provide targeted support for:

  • Unintentional weight loss or risk of malnutrition

  • Pressure injuries and chronic wounds

  • Dementia-related nutrition support

  • Bowel and digestive concerns

  • Diabetes and blood sugar management

  • Food intolerances and allergies

  • End-of-life or palliative care nutrition
